Outer Moorings is well positioned within 300 metres or 5 minutes walk from the beach, on Rice Lane, to the south (less hilly) side of the village. This 1960s bungalow has been entirely refurbished and updated for the 2019 season. It is superbly set up for a family holiday or for couples looking for well set up holiday let in a quiet location. Wheelchair accessible (3 steps). A dog is welcome (we charge a £20 doggy fee).

The front door opens into a spacious hallway leading to the living room, master bedroom, kitchen and bathroom.

The living room, hallway and both bedrooms benefit from beautiful dark oak flooring. There is underfloor heating throughout the house, so the floor is lovely and warm when the weather turns a little colder. The living room further benefits from a stylish wood burning stove that is a lovely addition to bring a homely glow to the house. There is a plentiful supply of logs for the stove, stored on the garage.

The master bedroom has a king sized double bed, two bedside tables, a wardrobe unit and a chest of drawers.

The second bedroom is accessed through a door from the living room. This is a small room with two single beds and a chest of drawers.

The kitchen is entirely new and well equipped with an electric hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher and separate fridge and freezer. Opening off the kitchen is a utility area with a washing machine and tumble dryer

Outer Moorings

Rice Lane, Gorran Haven, St Austell, Cornwall, PL26 6JH

First, get to St Austell, then… From the A390 in St. Austell (A390 is main Truro-Liskeard road) take the B3273 to Mevagissey (at the ‘B&Q’ / Mac Donald’s roundabout). After one mile is the small village of London Apprentice; a further mile or so, the village of Pentewan. At Pentewan the B3273 ascends a long winding hill overlooking the sea on the left. Turn right at the cross-roads at the apex of the hill, following signs to the Lost Gardens of Heligan and Gorran Haven.

The alternative route to Gorran Haven, through Mevagissey is not recommended in Summer as there are often lengthy traffic queues in the narrow streets. If you have a Satellite Navigation System it will try to urge you through Mevagissey, but this is folly unless you are in a very saintly and calm state.

Assuming you turn right, then: You will pass Heligan Gardens after crossing a narrow bridge and negotiating a sharp left hand bend. Follow the road for about five miles to Gorran Churchtown – church is on the left – down and up a dip and around another sharpish left hand turn. A couple of hundred yards along is the right hand turn to Gorran Haven (sign-posted).

The road into Gorran Haven descends a long hill (Bell Hill) past a triangle of green with a telephone box on the left. Continue on as road winds through the village towards the sea. The road gets narrower and narrower. After a left-hand bend the road becomes more or less a single lane. Immediately after a short, very narrow stretch (with a low, quartzite boulder wall on the right) you’ll find Outer Moorings on the right just before Lamledra Hill.

From the turn on to the B3273 in St. Austell to Gorran Haven should take about 25 minutes.

Key Collection etc: The house will be ready by 4pm and we will contact you before your arrival to arrange key collection. Check out is 10am on the day of departure, please.

Contact: If you should need anything during your stay we will be happy to help, just ring us on 01726 843122. If you get the answer machine please leave a message because we are never far away and it is checked at frequent intervals.

I hope you will have a lovely holiday,

Best wishes,

Highly recommended.

We have enjoyed a splendid week in this well equipped, warm and comfortable cottage and will certainly come again and recommend to our friends.

Really comfortable house, nice village & beach

We had a lovely stay just after Easter. The house is convenient and comfortable and all newly kitted out. The underfloor heating was ideal since when we arrived there was a hailstorm! The rest of the week we were on the beach in warm sun and the wood floors and nice bathroom was ideal for coming off the beach. The log burner was a plus and it was good to have parking by the front door.
