Sea Thrift is a neat one-bed chalet in the centre of Gorran Haven tucked away in a quiet location about 500 yards from the beach. It is ideal for a single person, couple or a small family requiring accommodation in the centre of the village. There’s a lovely patio garden and a quiet place to sit in the sun by the front door.

As well as being convenient for the beach and coastal path, Sea Thrift is a cosy spot for an off season break. It is well insulated with adjustable radiators in all rooms and fully double glazed - highly suitable for those seeking to explore this beautiful part of Cornwall out of peak season. Sea Thrift is not suitable for children and babies.

Sea Thrift is approached up a sloping private driveway from Canton. You can drive up to the front of the chalet to unload, but vehicles must be parked on the street below (out of season) or in season in the village car park (at a cost of about £30 a week) 150m away.

Front patio: A low hedge surrounds a small slate paved patio with seating in front of the chalet, wooden French doors open to the open plan living area with comfy seating and tv, dining table and well appointed kitchen area.

Lounge area has sofa, armchair, TV, DVD, CD/cassette/radio. An oak dining-table and chairs seat 4.

The kitchen area has fitted units, an electric hob, oven, extractor fan, microwave, toaster, integrated fridge with freezer compartment and integrated washer/dryer. There is an iron and small ironing board plus all the necessary equipment for cooking and dining.

The double bedroom has a 4’6” double, good quality divan bed. There are bedside cabinets each with side lamps. There is also a linen cupboard with small hanging space and a full length mirror.

The en suite bathroom has bath with shower, wc and hand basin.

Side patio: French doors from bedroom open onto the side patio with slate paving surrounded by curved slate topped walls. This is a pleasant place to relax with garden furniture and table for dining.

Sea Thrift is up a sloping private driveway leading up to terrace above Canton.

Sea Thrift

Canton St, Gorran Haven, St Austell, Cornwall, PL26 6JG

First, get to St Austell, then… From the A390 in St. Austell (A390 is main Truro-Liskeard road) take the B3273 to Mevagissey (at the ‘B&Q’ / Mac Donald’s roundabout).

After one mile is the small village of London Apprentice; a further mile or so, the village of Pentewan. At Pentewan the B3273 ascends a long winding hill overlooking the sea on the left.

Turn right at the cross-roads at the apex of the hill, following signs to the Lost Gardens of Heligan and Gorran Haven.

The alternative route to Gorran Haven, through Mevagissey is not recommended in Summer as there are often lengthy traffic queues in the narrow streets. If you have a Satellite Navigation System it will try to urge you through Mevagissey, but this is folly unless you are in a very saintly and calm state.

Assuming you turn right, then: You will pass Heligan Gardens after crossing a narrow bridge and negotiating a sharp left hand bend. Follow the road for about five miles to Gorran Churchtown – church is on the left – down and up a dip and around another sharpish left hand turn. A couple of hundred yards along is the right hand turn to Gorran Haven (sign-posted).

The road into Gorran Haven descends a long hill (Bell Hill) past a triangle of green with a telephone box. Continue on downhill as road winds through the village towards the sea. The road gets narrower and narrower. Past the car park field on the left. At this point the village street widens out, there’s a post box on left,  opposite there is the sloping driveway which leads to Sea Thrift and it’s neighbour Zebulan.

Turn up here and right then left at the top (entrance to Zebulun).  You can park in the drive to unload.

NOTE:  Parking for Sea Thrift is either down on the street below or in the village car park.

From the turn on to the B3273 in St. Austell to Gorran Haven should take about 25 minutes.

Key Collection etc:

Sea Thrift is always ready by 4pm and we will be in touch before your arrival to arrange key collection. Check out is 10 am on the day of departure, please.

I hope you will enjoy your stay,

Kind regards,

Perfect holiday accommodation

Fabulous accommodation for two, very clean, perfectly equipped and wonderful location. The bed was especially comfortable, which is such a luxury. Wonderful bathroom, good size with bath and shower, drying space, and a lovely place to sit outside. Super host, too, and a lovely welcome. I would definitely recommend this
