Moon Cottage

Magical cottage right above the beach at Gorran Haven. This place is charming, arty and unusual. It has homely comfort mixed with a rare spirit of the place. You can sit and watch the beach from the deck or you can read in the pretty front garden with it's seaside flowers. It is well worth walking to it's front door along the pathway that leads to Little Perhaver. 

Moon Cottage sleeps 4 in two bedrooms (king & twin). There are two bathrooms, en suite wc to main bedroom, two sitting rooms, a dining room and galley kitchen. It has WiFi, electric heating and log burner. There are superb sea and beach views from kitchen, main sitting room and deck. Some cottages come up only once in a while and this is one of them.

Moon cottage is a neat four square grade 2 listed cottage on the promontory of rock between the two beaches at Gorran Haven. It is approached down a quiet pathway about 30 paces from Church Street.

The cottage has its back to the sea - against storms, though there is a range of windows and a deck on the seaward side. The front of the cottage is sheltered with a sunny courtyard garden enclosed by a wall.

From the path you turn left through a garden gate into a seaside garden with slate paving and sea pinks. The garden has a band of flowers growing up the middle dividing it between Moon cottage and the one next-door (see picture). In front of moon cottage there is a pleasant place to sit with table and chairs.

The cottage has a slate floored hallway down the middle, stairs up to two bedrooms.

Main bedroom on right, has 5ft king size bed and en suite wc cleverly tucked into the once cupboard space.

The second bedroom has a pair of 3ft zip twin beds (that can be a 6ft king if required).

Both bedrooms have sash windows facing over the front garden and floors are original boards with rugs.

The family bathroom with bath and fitted shower over, wc and basin, is on the ground floor. There is a shower room by the rear door, which is ideal for returning sandy from the beach.

The ground floor has very pleasantly arranged social areas. There is a nice quiet parlour with comfy sofa to the left of the stairs, overlooking front garden.

The larger main sitting room has two sofas, log burner, tv and dvd player (concealed) and sash windows overlooking the beach. The kitchen opens from the end of the main sitting room.

Between these is a dining room with dining table seating six.

The kitchen is neatly and nicely arranged, with range of windows overlooking the beach and sea beyond. It is well equipped and has a dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer and microwave. One end of the kitchen is open to the main sitting room.

From the kitchen a glazed door opens to a tiled utility area with tumble dryer and the shower room beyond.

From here an outside door leads to a deck overlooking the beach with a small table and chairs. Steps lead down to a gate taking you to the path to Little Perhaver beach.

If you are worrying about where your car is all this time, it is parked in the village car park 5 minutes walk away.

Moon Cottage is on the pathway that leads to Little Perhaver beach in Gorran Haven. There is a pull in space next to the path on Church Street next to Marigold Cottage and Wren's Nest where you can stop to unload.

The cottage is set above the 'Fort' - that finger of rock between the two beaches at Gorran Haven. The beach pathway curves around and above the Fort along a walkway and then goes down a very long and steep flight of steps to the beach below. Little Perhaver beach can also be reached by walking around the rocks from the main beach, if the tide is not too far in (if you do not fancy the steps).
