Seaforth is a delightful fisherman's cottage located just 30 metres from Gorran Haven's beach. It has been recently renovated to and can sleep 6. It has one double bedroom with en suite bathroom, one downstairs twin bedroom and another upstairs twin bedroom. It also benefits from an inner courtyard which is perfect for sitting out and relaxing after a long day on the beach. A small dog is welcome.

Seaforth is a traditional cottage 30 metres from Gorran Haven beach. Recently renovated it has a private inner courtyard and modern extension. It has one double bedroom with ensuite bathroom, one downstairs twin bedroom and another upstairs twin bedroom. The courtyard which is perfect for sitting out and relaxing after a long day on the beach. A small dog is welcome (we have a doggy fee of £20).

Seaforth is one of the original fishermen’s cottages along Church Street. Part of it dates from the eighteenth century and is a listed building. It has remained in the same family for several generations and the current owner has happy memories of childhood holidays here. Church Street itself leads straight down to the beach and you can be on the beach with a cup of tea within one minute’s stroll! Despite its historical connections, Seaforth is equipped with all the modern conveniences. It has been renovated with brand new bathrooms, kitchen and bedrooms. You enter directly off Church Street into the hallway which leads off through an old wooden door into the living / dining room. This room is a cosy family living area with a small TV/DVD player and a wood-burning stove. There are books and local guides in the well-stocked bookcase for you to use. There is also Wi-Fi. In the far corner is a dining table for 4. This leads off through a small hallway into the newly-fitted Shaker-style kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and a fridge/freezer. The kitchen window overlooks the inner courtyard. This part of the cottage rambles around a corner and somewhat surprisingly leads to a modern bathroom and the twin bedroom. The bathroom has a free-standing bath with shower over, basin and WC. Next to the bathroom is a twin bedroom which has French windows onto the courtyard. These beds can also be combined to make a king-sized bed if required. The courtyard can also be accessed from the hallway.
It is surrounded on all 4 sides by the higgeldy-piggledy fisherman’s cottages that form this part of the old village. The cottage itself forms 3 sides of the courtyard, making it very private. It is has a new, non-slip decking and outdoor table and chairs. Here is the perfect place to wind-down and enjoy a glass of wine, sheltered from the wind. It is quite rare for these fishermen’s cottages to have an outdoor space so this is quite an asset. There is also an outdoor shower to clean off all the salt, sand and wetsuits after a long day on the beach.
Upstairs can be found the children’s room – a twin bedroom decorated in bright, child-friendly colours. It has a cupboard with toys and also a handy wash-basin. Also upstairs can be found the double bedroom, decorated in sea-green tones. The bedroom is a good size, equipped with a TV. It also has an en suite shower room, newly decorated in grey and white and fitted with shower, basin and WC.
Parking is in the nearby village car park which is a few minutes walk down Church Street. It is currently £24 per week to park there. You can unload your car outside the house on arrival, the pace of life is slow here – everyone is very tolerant and understanding!

Seaforth is located on the narrow road which leads straight down to the main beach of Gorran Haven. There is also a pathway opposite the cottage which leads down to Little Perhaver beach, a smaller beach only accessible at low tide or via this path and then some steep steps. The ancient 14th century church of St Just is also opposite the cottage.

Church Street, Gorran Haven, St Austell, Cornwall,

PL26 6JH

First, get to St Austell, then… From the A390 in St. Austell (A390 is main Truro-Liskeard road) take the B3273 to Mevagissey (at the ‘B&Q’ / Mac Donald’s roundabout).

After one mile is the small village of London Apprentice; a further mile, the village of Pentewan. At Pentewan the B3273 ascends a long winding hill overlooking the sea on the left. Turn right at the cross-roads at the apex of the hill, following signs to the Lost Gardens of Heligan and Gorran Haven. (The alternative route to Gorran Haven, through Mevagissey is not recommended in summer, as there are often lengthy traffic queues in the narrow streets).

You will pass Heligan (with excellent farm shop) after crossing a narrow bridge and negotiating a sharp left hand bend. Follow the road for about four miles to Gorran Churchtown – church is on the left – down and up a dip and around another sharpish left hand turn. A couple of hundred yards along is the right hand turn to Gorran Haven (sign-posted).

The road into Gorran Haven descends a long hill (Bell Hill) winding through the village to the sea. To reach Seaforth you must turn left at the grassy triangle (with red telephone box), along ‘Chute lane’, past the Llawnroc Hotel on left, continue on down hill, the road divides into Cliff Road and Church Street. Seaforth is about half way down the hill (Church St) on right almost opposite the church (but slightly above).

You can either stop in the street to unload right outside the front door (don’t worry, this is common practice, other road users are used to waiting!) or you can pull into the small layby outside Marigold cottage on the left, about 25 metres before you get to Seaforth. Look out for this on LEFT. Please note though: the pull in blocks Marigold’s driveway so please ensure you are reasonably quick & that you are not inconveniencing Marigold’s occupants.

After unloading proceed to the village car-park, which is down the hill, turn right and drive up the main street for 250 yds. Parking for a week (2020) is about £25 pounds. You can park on the main street between 6pm & 8am during the season, or longer off season, but finding a space can be tricky!

From the turn on to the B3273 in St. Austell to Gorran Haven should take about 25 minutes.
