Seaforth

Seaforth is a traditional cottage 30 metres from Gorran Haven beach. Recently renovated, it has a private inner courtyard and modern extension. It has one double bedroom with ensuite bathroom, one downstairs twin bedroom and another upstairs twin bedroom. The courtyard which is perfect for sitting out and relaxing after a long day on the beach. A small dog is welcome (we have a doggy fee of £25).

Seaforth is one of the original fishermen’s cottages along Church Street. Part of it dates from the eighteenth century and is a listed building. It has remained in the same family for two generations and the current owner has happy memories of childhood holidays here. Church Street itself leads straight down to the beach and you can be on the beach with a cup of tea within one minute’s stroll! Despite its historical connections, Seaforth is equipped with all the modern conveniences. You enter directly off Church Street into the hallway which leads off through an old wooden door into the living / dining room. This room is a cosy family living area with a small TV/DVD player and a wood-burning stove. There are books and local guides in the well-stocked bookcase for you to use. There is also Wi-Fi. In the far corner is a pull out dining table for 4. This leads off through a small hallway into the kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and a fridge/freezer. The kitchen window overlooks the inner courtyard. This part of the cottage rambles around a corner and leads to a modern bathroom and the twin bedroom. The bathroom has a free-standing bath with shower over, basin and WC. Next to the bathroom the twin bedroom  has French windows onto the courtyard.  

The courtyard can also be accessed from the hallway.  It is surrounded on all 4 sides by the higgeldy-piggledy fisherman’s cottages that form this part of the old village.  It is has a hard wood decking and an outdoor dining table and chairs seating 6. It is the perfect place to wind-down and enjoy a glass of wine, sheltered from the wind.  There is also an outdoor shower to clean off all the salt, sand and wetsuits after a long day on the beach.
Upstairs can be found the children’s room – a twin bedroom decorated in bright, child-friendly colours. It has a cupboard with toys and also a handy wash-basin. Also upstairs is the double bedroom, decorated in sea-green tones. The bedroom is a good size, equipped with a TV. It also has an en suite shower room,  decorated in grey and white and fitted with shower, basin and WC.
Parking is in the nearby village car park which is a few minutes walk down Church Street.  You can unload your car outside the house on arrival, the pace of life is slow here – everyone is very tolerant and understanding!

Seaforth is located on the narrow road which leads straight down (about 30 metres) to the main beach of Gorran Haven. There is also a pathway opposite the cottage which leads down to Little Perhaver beach, a smaller beach only accessible at low tide or via this path and then some steep steps. The ancient 14th century church of St Just is also opposite the cottage.
