Meadowcroft is a comfortable detached cottage in the heart of Gorran Haven, moments from the beach.
Quietly situated on a cobbled pedestrian-only lane, and with a pretty garden, summerhouse, outdoor shower and fabulous hot tub the outside areas are calm and attractive alternative to the beach. Inside there is an open fireplace, wifi, books and a charming view of the bay from comfy main kingsize bed It is the perfect place to relax at anytime of the year. Ideal for honeymoon or family beach holiday.
There are 3 bedrooms, (king, double and twin), 2 bathrooms plus en suite wc. Superfast wifi, study with sofa bed, private parking nearby.
Through a wrought iron gate in a high wall topped by flowers, a path leads up to the front door. Lawns either side of the path with borders a tangled riot of California Poppy and roses. A raised patio in front of the cottage has outdoor seating under a pergola covered with Jasmine and Passion Flower. The quiet street is hidden by bamboo, tree fern and palms – courtesy of warm sea air.
Along the side of the cottage a path leads past the enclosed hot tub to a paved terrace and BBQ area outside the kitchen. Here there is also a hot shower – perfect after an evening swim. Part of this area is under cover and has a large wooden box for logs, plus BBQ and spare outdoor seating.
A flight of steps leads to a (south facing) higher terrace with a Summer house with a lovely quiet view of the hillside opposite and allotments over the fence nextdoor.
Summer house has Lloyd loom chairs and sun loungers. Space outside for BBQ if required.
The hot tub is enclosed in a fenced area to the side of the house, reached up steps to a gated wooden enclosure, above there are fairy lights making an enjoyable night time ambiance. There is an additional £50 charge to cover hot tub maintenance. When not in use hot tub can be securely covered.

With traditional dining table & chairs seating six; a small sofa in alcove makes a pleasant reading corner. A breakfast bar divides dining area from the kitchen. French doors open onto front patio and outside dining area under pergola.
Oiled beech worktops and fitted units. Butler sink. Dishwasher, fridge freezer, electric cooker with ceramic hob, extractor fan. Microwave and all the required equipment for cooking and dining. Tiled floor. French doors from kitchen open onto side terrace with covered area and hot shower.
Shower cubicle (with seat), WC, hand basin. Utility cupboard contains washing machine and tumble dryer. Tiled floor.
Comfortably furnished with two sofas, armchair and footstool. Also a stone fireplace (supply of logs provided). Flat screen TV, DVD, Freeview box. Fitted carpet. French doors open to the front garden.
A comfy sofa bed and a writing desk, off the diningroom, can be a retreat or an extra bedroom (£30 add on if bed required).
Queensize bed from which there is a lovely view of Gwineas and sea over village rooftops!.

The cottage is on ‘Rattle Street’, a pedestrian only street about 20 yards from ‘Canton’ (the main street leading to the sea). The village bakery and main shop is on Canton a two minute walk from the cottage and there is sometimes a lovely smell of baking bread hereabouts. The cliff path and various secluded beaches are within an easy walk.
It is possible to stop and unload near the entrance to Rattle Street, the private parking space for the cottage about 120 yards away just beyond the village carpark. In season it is possible to park on Canton from 6pm to 8am, or anytime off season, if you can find a space.
As with all our properties, linen and towels are provided and electricity is inclusive. Please bring your own beach towels.
The house is well equipped with all our usual inventory items.
Extras: Meadow Croft has a small sofa bed best suited to a child or single adult if required (£30 supplement). The Hot tub is available for use by prior arrangement and there is a charge of £50 for it's cleaning.

HOW TO FIND US
Canton St, Gorran Haven, St Austell, Cornwall, PL26 6JQ
First, get to St Austell, then… From the A390 in St. Austell (A390 is main Truro-Liskeard road) take the B3273 to Mevagissey (at the ‘B&Q’ / Mac Donald’s roundabout). After one mile is the small village of London Apprentice; a further mile or so, the village of Pentewan. At Pentewan the B3273 ascends a long winding hill overlooking the sea on the left. Turn right at the cross-roads at the apex of the hill, following signs to the Lost Gardens of Heligan and Gorran Haven.
The alternative route to Gorran Haven, through Mevagissey is not recommended in Summer as there are often lengthy traffic queues in the narrow streets. If you have a Satellite Navigation System it will try to urge you through Mevagissey, but this is folly unless you are in a very saintly and calm state.
Assuming you turn right, then: You will pass Heligan Gardens after crossing a narrow bridge and negotiating a sharp left hand bend. Follow the road for about five miles to Gorran Churchtown – church is on the left – down and up a dip and around another sharpish left hand turn. A couple of hundred yards along is the right hand turn to Gorran Haven (sign-posted).
The road into Gorran Haven descends a long hill (Bell Hill) past a triangle of green with a telephone box. Continue on as road winds through the village towards the sea. The road gets narrower and narrower.
Meadow Croft’s parking space is on the left of a small bend, in front of three boat sheds with green doors (opposite Lamledra Hill road). However, continue past the parking area and village car park on the left for about 200 yds, where you come to a cluster of little shops with the sea in view at the end of the road.
After passing the hairdresser’s on left the road narrows and then opens out. The entrance to cobbled Rattle Street is on your left opposite red phone-box. Rattle Street is pedestrian only, but you can usually park at its end to unload, or on the opposite side of the road for a short time. Once unloaded you can return to the boat-shed area to park your car. If there is a second vehicle to park, it should be parked in the village car-park (weekly permit required – aprox £24).
It’s a good idea to bring wheelie suitcases. Meadow Croft is about 30 yards up Rattle Street, just around the corner next to the allotments. It has a black metal gate and is the 2nd house on the left hand side.
From the turn on to the B3273 in St. Austell to Gorran Haven should take about 25 minutes.
