The location of Fair Skies is very special. It is situated on Foxhole Lane, 50 metres from the village’s two beaches and the excellent village shop, close to the heart of the old village, with quite wonderful vistas from the living room, main bedroom and garden. This comfortable house combines an amazing location with parking and a safe garden.

Fair Skies is a 60’s built bungalow transformed by its current owners into an unashamedly modern, white-walled open-plan living area with stunning views. Attractive fabrics, comfortable seating, modern kitchen and bathroom make this an enticing and practical holiday home.

The living room has relaxing sofas, tables, lamps, TV (with DVD player), radio and CD player. There is a small desk if you need to work, and of course Wi-Fi. On the bookshelves you will find guide books, maps and files of local information.
The house is exceptionally light and sunny, with a spacious modern kitchen area. All appliances in the kitchen (including a dishwasher, washer/drier and microwave) are up to date and the electric oven has a gas hob. The kitchen is well-equipped. The owner is a keen cook so if you are too, you will find all the utensils and appliances you may need. The dining area in the living room opens through french-doors on to a decked area with table and chairs and that wonderful view for ‘al-fresco’ dining and barbecuing.

The house is fully central-heated with a gas-fired boiler. The newly fitted bathroom has a large walk-in shower, washbasin, heated towel rail and WC with a tiled floor. Flooring throughout the rest of the house is oak-effect vinyl with floor rugs in the bedrooms and living room. The small interior hallway contains a cupboard with cleaning appliances and utensils, garden cushions; a folding cot, a child booster seat and a highchair are all available on request.  There is a shoe rack and pegs for your coats and boots, wet or dry!

Leading from the hall, both bedrooms are simple and restful with reportedly very comfortable beds. The main bedroom has a large picture window overlooking the sea with a king-sized bed, dressing table, chair and soft bedside rugs. Bedding is in keeping with the cool grey and sea green colour scheme. The twin bedded room faces south and has a marine, navy and white scheme. Both bedrooms have wardrobes, bedside tables, lamps, towel stands, mirrors and hair driers.

Outside, access to the house is on the level via a ramped path with a small step to the door. Fair Skies benefits from extensive parking, unusual in Gorran Haven; there is access via a gravelled entrance to a gated, tarmac drive with parking space for two cars (or boats).

The sunny garden surrounds the house and looks out over the sea to the Gwineas Rock. The garden is fenced/walled and gated with flower and shrub borders and a sizeable lawn in addition to the small lawn surrounding the deck; it is safe for children. There is a bench outside the front of the house that catches the morning sun; a perfect spot for a morning ‘cuppa’. Throughout the house there are pictures and photographs reflecting locations and artists of the area.

The website photos are all taken in the house or its garden, except the wonderful sunrise over the harbour.

All linen is provided with the exception of beach towels. A limited supply of essential cleaning products is to be found under the sink; toiletries are not provided.

Area

Gorran Haven is an old fishing village halfway down the south coast of Cornwall. It is at the end of a quiet road to the sea, so no through traffic. The area is designated as one of outstanding natural beauty and Fair Skies, although modern, lies in the conservation area of the village.

Via the slipway there are two good sheltered and safe sandy beaches. There is an excellent village store, Cakebreads, and two or three cafes in season. This makes the village a cheery place during the day for families and children. There is no pub, but Cakebreads runs a bar in season. The village is quiet in the evening which we love.

Within easy reach, walking or driving, there are more secluded beaches (Vault and Hemmick are nearest).

Fair Skies is brilliantly situated for the beach, kayaking, canoeing, paddle-boarding and swimming or launching your boat; walking from the front door to the Coast Path takes seconds.

Whatever your age or interests this part of Cornwall has much to offer; The Lost Gardens of Heligan, the Eden Project, the gardens and castle at Caerhays are all less than 30 minutes away.
