- SQM 70
Fair Skies is 30 metres from the beach, the South West Coast Path and village amenities. New owners have transformed the single-storey house into a fresh, open-plan living space with stunning views of the beach and old village. It combines a wonderful location with parking and a safe garden.
Fair Skies is a 60’s built bungalow newly transformed by its current owners into an unashamedly modern, white-walled open-plan living area with stunning views. Attractive fabrics, comfortable seating, modern kitchen and bathroom make this an enticing and practical holiday home.
The location is very special, situated on Foxhole Lane, 30 metres from the village’s two beaches and the South West Coast Path, close to the heart of the old village with quite wonderful vistas from the living room and main bedroom.
The living room has comfortable sofas, tables, lamps, TV (with DVD player), radio and CD player. There is a small desk if you need to work, and of course Wi-Fi. On the bookshelves you will find guide books, maps and files of local information.
The house is exceptionally light and sunny, with a spacious modern kitchen area. All appliances in the kitchen (including a dishwasher and washing machine) are new and the electric oven has a gas hob. The kitchen is well-equipped. The owner is a keen cook so if you too are a keen cook you will find all the utensils and appliances you may need.
The dining area in the living room opens through french-doors onto a decked area with table and chairs and that wonderful view for ‘al-fresco’ dining and barbecuing.
The house is fully central-heated with a gas- fired boiler.
The newly fitted bathroom has a large walk-in shower, washbasin, heated towel rail and WC with a tiled floor. Flooring throughout the rest of the house is oak-effect vinyl with floor rugs in the bedrooms and living room. The small interior hallway contains a cupboard with cleaning appliances and utensils, garden cushions, a folding cot (available on request) and a child booster seat. There is a shoe rack and pegs for your coats and boots, wet or dry!
Leading from the hall, both bedrooms are simple and restful. The main bedroom has a large picture window overlooking the sea with a king-sized bed, dressing table, chair and soft bedside rugs. Bedding is in keeping with the cool grey and sea green colour scheme. The twin bedded room faces south and has a marine, navy and white scheme. Both bedrooms have wardrobes, bedside tables, lamps, towel stands, mirrors and hair driers.
Outside, access to the house is on the level via a ramped path with a very small step to the door. Fair Skies benefits from extensive parking, unusual in Gorran Haven; there is access via a gravelled entrance to a gated, tarmac drive with parking space for two cars (or boats).
The sunny garden surrounds the house and looks out over the sea to the Gwineas Rock. The garden is fenced/ walled and gated with flower and shrub borders and a sizeable lawn in addition to the small lawn surrounding the deck; it is safe for children. There is a bench outside the front of the house that catches the morning sun; a perfect spot for a morning ‘cuppa’.
Throughout the house there are pictures and photographs reflecting locations and artists of the area.

HOW TO FIND US
First, get to St Austell, then… From the A390 in St. Austell (A390 is main Truro-Liskeard road) take the B3273 to Mevagissey (at the ‘B&Q’ / Mac Donald’s roundabout).
After one mile is the small village of London Apprentice; a further mile, the village of Pentewan. At Pentewan the B3273 ascends a long winding hill overlooking the sea on the left. Turn right at the cross-roads at the apex of the hill, following signs to the Lost Gardens of Heligan and Gorran Haven. (The alternative route to Gorran Haven, through Mevagissey is not recommended in Summer as there are often lengthy traffic queues in the narrow streets).
You will pass Heligan after crossing a narrow bridge and negotiating a sharp left hand bend. Follow the road for about four miles to Gorran churchtown – church is on the left – down and up a dip and around another sharpish left hand turn. A couple of hundred yards along is the right hand turn to Gorran Haven (sign-posted).
The road into Gorran Haven descends a long hill winding through the village, the road getting narrower and narrower. Past the car park field on the left, keep going straight on (towards the sea). You will see Cakebread’s bakery and shop on your left.
Further on with the beach right in front of you, you will see Foxhole Lane on your right, it requires a sharp turn uphill. Fair Skies is about 50 yards up on the right hand side. There is plenty of space to pull in and park at the side of the cottage.
From the turn on to the B3273 in St. Austell to Gorran Haven should take about 25 minutes.
