Description

St Keverne is in the middle of Gorran Haven, 150 metres from the beach. It has a large private garden, four bedrooms, three bathrooms, conservatory and summerhouse, in a nice quiet location with parking for 2 cars and sea views. It sleeps 8.



St Keverne is hidden away behind trees on the bank above the main street in Gorran Haven It is a good sized house with four bedrooms, three bathrooms, large conservatory and a Summer house with a double bed. There is parking for two cars and a large and private garden. There is dark wood flooring throughout and central heating.

Painted lemon yellow outside and in pale shades inside, it achieves a pleasant beach house feel. There's a fine teak deck at the front overlooking the front lawn with a sea view to the side.

It is lovely house for family gatherings and it works well with Harbour Hill (nextdoor) and Trelawney (opposite). St Keverne also invites quiet retreats as has lovely private garden and situation close to good walks and the beach.

The front door opens into the hallway with a big conservatory at the far end and beyond that the patio and large lawned garden sloping upwards with various terraces and at the top, the Summer house which is a simply furnished outside (double) bedroom with great sea view & privacy. If you would like to use this there is an extra charge of £50 in main season.

Back inside the house, at the front there is a double bedroom with en suite shower room. It has with a large bay window with sea glimpses from the side, overlooking the deck. Chest of drawers pegs and hangers, bedside tables and lamps.

Opposite there is a sitting room with an open fireplace (working), two sofas, flat screen tv, dvd player. Various books, games and dvds. This room is lovely in winter with a fire lit. Bay window looks onto the front deck.


Along the hall is a twin bedroom with a window onto the garden path and hedge at the side of house. Pair of 3 foot divan beds and chest of drawers, built in wardrobe.

On the other side of the hall is a second double bedroom. This is quite a small room, largely occupied by double bed, but nice with window onto trees at the side of the house. Wardrobe and small bedside table, under stairs cupboard.

The kitchen / dining room is a good size and has a handy hatchway through to the conservatory. There is an American-type fridge- freezer, bright red range cooker with gas hob and all the usual kitchen equipment. A large window looks onto the garden and patio and a side window by the dining table makes this a nice light area.

Half way along the hall, a door opens onto narrow stairway to the upstairs suite. Here is the kingsize bedroom with en suite shower room and wc. The shower is rather like something from Dr Who - it has a radio and coloured lights. We think it may have other features too, but not quite sure… The bedroom is well lit with a bay window with view of the bay from the side and velux windows set in sloping roof.

Parking

Parking is on the driveway for two cars. Note that the approach to the house is along a sloping narrow drive with a u bend, but despite first appearances this works well.

It is worth noting that St Keverne is next door to Harbour Hill and there is a connecting gate which can be opened if the two are let together for larger groups.

HOW TO FIND US

ST  KEVERNE

Canton St, Gorran Haven, St Austell, Cornwall, PL26 6JG

First, get to St Austell, then… From the A390 in St. Austell (A390 is main Truro-Liskeard road) take the B3273 to Mevagissey (at the ‘B&Q’ / Mac Donald’s roundabout).

After one mile is the small village of London Apprentice; a further mile or so, the village of Pentewan. At Pentewan the B3273 ascends a long winding hill overlooking the sea on the left. 

Turn right at the cross-roads at the apex of the hill, following signs to the Lost Gardens of Heligan and Gorran Haven. 

The alternative route to Gorran Haven, through Mevagissey is not recommended in Summer as there are often lengthy traffic queues in the narrow streets. If you have a Satellite Navigation System it will try to urge you through Mevagissey, but this is folly unless you are in a very saintly and calm state.

Assuming you turn right, then: You will pass Heligan Gardens after crossing a narrow bridge and negotiating a sharp left hand bend. Follow the road for about five miles to Gorran Churchtown – church is on the left – down and up a dip and around another sharpish left hand turn. A couple of hundred yards along is the right hand turn to Gorran Haven (sign-posted).

The road into Gorran Haven descends a long hill (Bell Hill) past a triangle of green with a telephone box. Continue on downhill as road winds through the village towards the sea. The road gets narrower and narrower. Past the car park field on the left, the village street then widens out. The driveway to St Keverne is on the right, opposite red postbox. Turn up here and at the top you need to make a reverse to return along the track to the left.  St Keverne is at the end of the short track. Next to Oakroyd.  

From the turn on to the B3273 in St. Austell to Gorran Haven should take about 25 minutes.
