Maen Lay is a 3-bedroom house with superb views of the sea and bay below. It is about 200 metres from the beach. A comfortable, contemporary house with lots of light and a lovely elevated position on quiet Foxhole Lane. Suitable for all times of year and all ages.
It sleeps 5 in three bedrooms (king, twin and single). There is central heating, double-glazing, wifi, dishwasher and parking. A deck and patio area extend from the living space with outside dining facilities.
Maen Lay’ (meaning ‘big rock’ in Cornish) is named after an off-shore rock seen from the coast-path nearby. Through the large windows you can enjoy a wide panorama of the sky, cliff-scape and sea. It is particularly amazing in wild winter weather to look out from up here.
It’s a short walk downhill to the beach and there’s space in the garage for kayaks and beach gear. It is quite a steep hill climb back from the beach, but well worth it!
The house is all on one level, but there are steps down from the driveway to the front door and the driveway is sloping.
You enter from Foxhole lane onto a downward sloping driveway with parking for one, possibly two, cars. To the right, a flight of steps with a handrail lead to the front door.
On the seaward side of the driveway there is a little garden with a level seating area. A nice quiet and sunny place to look out at the lovely view.
The front door opens onto a hallway leading to bedrooms right and left, bathroom, utility and living room further on.
The living area has a comfortable sitting room with kitchen/dining room beyond through an archway. There are windows on three sides and the views in all directions are extensive and impressive. The sitting room has log burner, flat screen TV and two large sofas.
Flooring is carpet with wood laminate in the kitchen and dining areas.
The kitchen is well appointed with beech worktop and white units. There is an electric cooker with ceramic hob, fridge freezer, dishwasher and microwave.
At the rear, from the kitchen French doors open onto a large slate patio and paved garden with space for outdoor dining and lovely views.
The exterior space is enclosed by railings with the entrance driveway and steep grassy banks below the house accessible through gateways.
The master bedroom has a king-size bed and gentle muted colours, large mirror and dressing table.
Across the hallway the single bedroom also has a window to the front. The twin bedroom on the right of the hall has a window facing seawards across the neighbouring garden.
The bathroom is very well appointed with bath and separate shower in enclosure; tiled walls and flooring.
The utility room has a washing machine, sink and door to exterior by the patio.
Maen Lay is directly above Doubtnot, St Keverne and Harbour Hill and only a short walk from these houses, making them a convenient grouping for family gatherings etc.
