Wrens Nest, Church Street,

Gorran Haven

This is where I would like to live myself. The front door (less than 100m from the beach) looks as if it belongs to a modest cottage, but venture inside and there is a spacious home from home. with a wonderful garden and courtyard behind it.

The house lends itself well to different family groups; the twin bedroom with en suite shower room is downstairs and suitable for older children or grand parents for example. Cottage Layout

The main entrance to Wren's Nest isa wooden sliding door opening to the net loft, a spacious area for coming in off the sands, with all beach toys and accessories available. The fridge, freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer complete this as a true utility room. This opensinto the kitchen/dining room with an original beamed ceiling, eight-seater dining table and which is well stocked with crockery and a dish-washer.

Downstairs, overlooking the courtyard, is bedroom three, with twin beds and en suite shower room with basin and WC.

The courtyard is a convenient outdoor dining area with large table and chairs, barbeque and sail-cloth awning. There are openings into the net loft and downstairs landing and to the garden beyond up some steps.

Upstairs there are two sitting rooms - one at the front with a large library and dual aspect sash windows that overlook the garden and courtyard, and the other, at the rear, with sofas, open fireplace, large flatscreen TV and DVD player. This opens out into a separate glass-fronted sunroom with seating overlooking the upper garden.

The master bedroom with king-size bed is comfortable, bright and airy, with dual aspect sash windows and exposed floorboards.

Bedroom two has large, three-foot twin bunkbeds, overlooks the courtyard, and has a built-in cupboard for storage.

The main bathroom is nautically themed with bath, pedestal basin and WC.

The large, lawned garden slopes behind the house with magnificent views across the village to a wooded hillside, and benefits from not being overlooked. There is also a level seating/dining area under the apple tree.

Location

Wren's Nest is at the top of Church Street, which leads directly to the beach, just past the tiny 14th Century chapel of St Just.

Gorran Haven is a cheerful and friendly small village half way down the south coast of Cornwall. It is very much appreciated for its two sandy beaches and small harbour with quay. In summer the beaches teem with families enjoying the sea, stream and rock pools.

There is a single main shop - Cakebread's - which is open all year and is the mainstay of the village, being the bakers, grocery, off licence, newsagent and post office.

In season there are several other shops: a fish and chip shop and a beach cafe; a small cafe restaurant, and the newly refurbished Llawnroc Hotel. In Gorran Churchtown, a mile inland, the Barley Sheaf pub has a pleasant garden, comfy bar and home cooked meals as well as pasties and pints of good local St Austell ales.
