Portmellon is a enclave around a sandy beach. It is the next cove on (westwards) from Mevagissey and so is quiet conveniently placed from the interesting shops etc. in that busy little place, but is rather more peaceful. Portmellon has a pleasant pub - The Rising Sun - next to the beach. Spindrift is on the other side of the valley, also very close to the beach.
Spindrift is very convenient for walking through the beautiful coastal landscape between Portmellon and Gorran Haven. The cliff path is 3 minutes from the front door. Heading west, the Coastal Path leads past the quiet beach at Colona and beyond. Also from the front door is a lovely inland woodland walk which could take you to the excellent pub in Gorran Church town for lunch - The Barley Sheaf - now wonderfully restored after a prolonged gestation.
