Toddy Cottage

Toddy Cottage is one of the original fisherman's cottages up Church Street. It is opposite the little church of St Just and from the sittingroom window you look out to sea along the passageway beside the church.

This little house on on three floors has been properly renovated and although it is small, it has been very well thought out so that everything fits and can be found.

From the street you enter the kitchen. It has breakfast bar and a wall of fitted units including integral fridge freezer. All white and good quality. Nice window onto the street.

Stairs (quite narrow and steep) take you to the sitting room which has windows in two walls, one with sea view. Large flat screen tv, armchairs.

Through a door to another flight of stairs and now strangely this top floor is twice the size. The main bedroom has kingsize bed and window with sea view (visible from bed), wardrobe and chest of drawers. across small landing there is family bathroom with smaller size bath and shower over, wc, basin. There is a lovely small window from which you can see the beach.

There is a small bright bunk bedded second bedroom facing the front of the house also with a nice view. Bunks are sturdy, but better suited to children than adults.

Parking is in the village carpark about 400 metres away (18 pounds per week in 2016). It is possible to stop right outside the front door to load and unload, although this blocks the street for a while everyone expects this and a gentle tolerance is Gorran Haven's default mood.

There is no outdoor space (fishermen had allotments nearby so did not need gardens), but the beach is really close.

A very nice cottage for a romantic twosome or a small family.

Gorran Haven has it's own following - people who have come for years and years for their holidays. It is a small fishing village halfway down the south coast of Cornwall.

Quite busy in Summer but still basically quite a small community all centred on the two lovely village beaches. There are a handful of cafes and the all round village shop. The village attracts families in the school holidays and is very good for young children. It is also a really beautiful place (an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, you know) and cliff walking or just dozing on a secluded beach is a great pleasure. In winter it is very quiet here and sometimes the weather is rough - ideal time to get some peace here. Toddy cottage is cosy and warm.
