East Paddock is the ground floor garden apartment of a large, south facing, clifftop house with beautiful sea views. The property is relatively secluded on the eastern (Heligan side) edge of the village. The owners are discreet and tolerant and occupy the main house with their own garden area separate from the apartment which has it’s own entrance and is not accessible from the house.The property is at the end of a longish driveway leading from School Hill. There is a paved parking area beside the house. A path leads past an attractive parterre garden and down a flight of steps with a handrail to the apartment and it’s garden.
A paved covered terrace with pillared supports in front of the apartment frames a lovely view of Chapel point & the sea beyond. There is Garden furniture for dining and two sunbeds.
Apartment Layout
Entrance through a glazed French door into the sittingroom with sofa and two armchairs; tv; dvd and a shelf of books and games.
Leading off the sitting room is Bedroom one with double bed, fitted wardrobes, chest of drawers and en suite shower room with wc.
At the other end of the sittingroom a corridor opens onto the fitted kitchen with dining table and 4 chairs, washing machine, microwave, fridge freezer and all necessary equipment. Further along the corridor is the bathroom with bath, sink & wc.
At the end is Bedroom two with twin (3ft) beds, fitted wardrobes, chest of drawers and French doors that open onto the garden.
There is electric night storage heating and sealed unit double glazing. The property is carpeted throughout except for bathrooms and kitchen. It is warm in winter and cool in summer with French doors opened to the garden.
Linen and towels are provided, electricity is included.
The Garden and Beach access
The garden has a large lawn ending with a well established hedge at the cliff edge. The South Coast footpath runs behind this hedge at a lower level. The path is not visible from the property and is far enough away to be unnoticed from the garden. Private access to the path is through a gate in the perimeter fence of the garden to one side of the property.
Polstreath beach (immediately below) can be reached by walking 100 yards or so along the path in the direction of Mevagissey, where the path divides (steep steps).
Location
One of the very nice things about East Paddock is that it is relatively secluded and separate from Mevagissey’s hussle & bustle, but still within easy reach of the shops and restaurants. On foot, it is a 10 minute walk – (either by road, down School Hill or along the cliff path which comes out by the harbour). By car, it’s a very short drive to one of Meva’s many car parks, then a level walk around the village & harbour.
Heligan gardens is about 10 minutes drive away, in the other direction (with it’s fine plantings, walks and good cafeé with home cooked meals). Also at Heligan is Lobb’s farm shop a good source of local meat, vegetables and cheeses.
The beaches at Gorran Haven are a 15 minute drive or a scenic walk along the coastal path (about an hour).
